What patients say on Google

“I rarely post online reviews because I prefer not to speak negatively about any business, but I feel an urgent obligation to warn prospective patients about this facility and its staff. The front desk reception is exceptionally rude. If you carry any outstanding balance, patient care and mental health immediately cease to be a priority—the sole focus becomes collecting payment. Furthermore, descriptions claiming the facility is "clean" are inaccurate; located inside a mini-mall, the office gives the impression of a temporary pop-up operation rather than an established medical clinic. I received treatment from Micah Malenfant for years. He eventually expressed dissatisfaction with Seaside and departed to launch a private practice, suggesting I transition with him to ensure continuity of care. It was only after I moved to his private practice that Seaside suddenly claimed my final appointment was not covered by insurance, leaving me with a substantial balance. Ever since I prioritized continuing care with my long-term provider, they have treated me poorly regarding this balance. Years later, Mr. Malenfant began abruptly ignoring my communications right when my long-standing prescription renewals were due. After failing to submit my refills or respond to me for over a week, his eventual reply was vague and failed to disclose that his private practice had closed and he was forced to return to Seaside. He subsequently emailed asking if I was available on a specific date to figure out my treatment; I confirmed my availability immediately, but heard nothing back. Rather than professionally addressing the disruption to my care or providing a clear explanation, he sent extensive, highly unprofessional emails detailing his own personal issues and life crises. While I wish hardship on no one and hope he receives any care he may need, a provider cannot operate this way while managing patients. Shortly after apologizing and promising to work things out, his final message stated he would simply no longer respond to me. Both the facility and Micah Malenfant demonstrate severe unprofessionalism, prioritizing balance collection over patient safety and mental health. Navigating healthcare is difficult enough, and no one deserves to experience this level of neglect. If management takes accountability and resolves these issues appropriately, I will gladly remove this post, as I have no desire to criticize anyone unfairly. Until then, please stay away for your own mental health and safety.”

“Lourie and Seaside family health care have been a 5* experience for me for a few years now. Lourie is super attentive, kind and respectful. When I am there for a visit, she makes sure to communicate back to me what I am sharing with her; and doesn't question my experience at all (sadly, as a woman this is something I have experienced with some providers). She is very accommodating and thorough and I *never* feel rushed out like I have felt in some doctors offices. Lourie checks, and then double checks, and questions accordingly to make sure she is providing everything I need! She was also super accommodating for an antibiotic request when I was in an emergency situation; earlier this year and trying to avoid a $$$ urgent care visit; I know it is not something she does regularly but as a regular patient of hers I feel it is worth calling this out and letting her know I appreciated it. I've been seeing her for a few years now and have nothing but fantastic things to say. I feel incredibly grateful to have found her and to be in her care.”

“I'm currently in Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, Maine as it was the closest hospital near me when needed for emergency as I have a bowel instruction. I have called Dr Swimm's office 2 times today to see if she could help in anyway to get me to my life time emergency Room in Portland, Maine, Maine Medical Center as all my children and family are all right there too. In the 2 times I have called today I haven't once spoken to my Primary Care, just whomever answers the phone. First time I was told I would need to see Dr Swimm first as she can't just refer, I then again explained to phone answerer that is impossible as I am admitted as a patient in the hospital now, her reply was well you need to come see Dr Swimm for a referral. End of first conversation. I then spoke to a very close family member who happenes up he an excellent nurse. She asked me why my PCP couldn't refer me to a specialist at MMC so I called back and spoke to whomever answered phone again at PCP and asked if my doctor could please refer me to a specialist at MMC, again I was told that PCP would have to see me before referring me to specialist. Why she would need to see me knowing I am already in inpatient at hospital I explained again I'm in the hospital and that was impossible, her reply well unfortunately you need to see her before referring. Not one time did she consult with my PCP or offer to have her call me or the hospital I am at. I am not sure if same girl who answered the phone is a doctor, PCP or runs the show ? This is not the first time I have had an experience with this receptionist but it is definitely the last. Due to my experience's I would never recommend Seaside Health Care to anyone as I have never had any luck at all there, sadly. My worst experience ever trying to get help from a doctor. I truly hope I don't get a response like other 1 star reviews. That is my truth and if you can't handle the truth get out of the business.. Thank you”

“I have been a patient of Dr. Laurie Swimm since she was just starting her own private practice. She was the Doctor, Nurse, and seemed to be her own full time secretary/receptionist. She was one person doing it all. I fell in love with how much she really cared about me and how I was convinces that I was her biggest priority. Small check ups scheduled for 15 minutes almost always became a thorough examination lasting over 45 minutes, covering everything that she felt she could help me with, including how I feel during my normal ups and downs and any advice or guidance she could offer…I started as a new patient and rapidly became almost like a family member. I have been to more medical practices than the norm, so it’s safe to say, I feel over qualified to review medical physicians. When I say she’s the best…believe it! The only caveat with having the best is of course losing it some day…it’s a day I hope is a long time away…”
